Chuck Ragan- Gold country

I'm posting it trough this weekend I think...The latest thing I post of Chuck ragan was ole diesel and I received mails to erase it. I did so...
The man is playing in my town on friday. Only show in France...
So I'll go to him with my hwm tatoo on my leg and say:
-"Hey how are you doing? Your last cd is great, more county-ish but still awesome. Your warm voice, your easy listenning guitar chords, these melodies which stick to the bones."
And he'll say just that, with a tiny smile on his face.
-"I'm doing great"
So I'll look at him with all my gratitude.
-"Yeah, thats how i feel when listenning to gold country. I'm doing great. It's good to be alive."
And then realized I just closed my eyes and that is in front of us as I get carried away by his show... or maybe, as always, it'll be the time a fucking douche spills beer on me...

Second Rate- (almost) complete discography

All right fellows, I hope my english is not too boring for those who are indeed english spoken people and most of all I hope everything's fine for all of you as for me, this is sadly the end of my summer hollidays. Back to work....

Here is one great, almost legendary, french band. In the late 90's some bands were really leading the french scene like Burning Heads or Seven Hate and then came Second Rate, formed in 1998 in Besancon, eastern France. Picking up their influences in the american scene (Husker Du, Jawbreaker, Hot Water Music, Texas is the reason...) and mixing it with french 90's emo tradition such as Drive Blind, Sixpack, Les Thugs with a rock n roll side ala Real cool killers and a little Mega city four touch. So they basically become "huge" in the early 00's, being connected with bands like Flying Donuts, Sexypop, Homeboys, Dead Pop Club and forming the emoglam connection. The band reached a sort of climax by playing at the printemps de bourges fest -non underground- and touring uk the same year following theur split with the great band Scuttle.
A classic line up: two guitars, a drummer singer and a bass player who kept on changing over the year and a brilliant way to play great shows and release good cds. A five year span history which contribute a lot to the french scene. I remenber being to their last tour, saw them in Limoges and to this day it is still one of the best show I've ever seen. I videotaped it but after 6 years and many movings I cannot find it. Maye some day, I'll post it. It must be somewhere.
Anyway, hope you'll like this band for those who don't know these guys, you got to be familiar with the typical french accent when trying to sing in english!
You can visit Nasty samy website, former second rate guitar player, website to know some more.

I could not provide you with the first split 7" with brainwash, as I have nothing to record my vinyls on my laptop...
And I simply do not have their first demo, state of regression, 1998. If someone can help...

Algernon Cadwallader- Some kind of Cadwallader

So I hear you sound like Cap'n'Jazz...
Pronounce that "al-jur-non kad-wall-uh-der", many says it's a steal of Tim Kinsella's voice, the 90's emo way above all, the skinned shouts, playing with the correctness of tune ala promise ring, in between melancholic or sometimes elusive or just catchy guitar chords. Soothing yet intricate melodies to the offbeat punk rhythms, you won't have a hard time to find a nice hook or an anthemic chorus (Motivational Song)
I'm proposing to you the effort they put out after their first demo. Hail, Hail Philly, this is some good shit. For french people like me, they'll be touring Europe this fall with two shows in France, and you can be sure i'll be at my town's show in Lyon, the 12th of october!

Cap'n'jazz- Analphabetapolothology

Cap'n'jazz in one very influential band, yet short lived, from the 90's. The Kinsella brothers formed the band in 1989, in Chicago and broke up in 1995 mainly because Davey von Bohlen (guitarist and vocalist) left Chicago to focus on his side projectThe promise ring. They got very significant over the years, the kinda band which is more popular after they're dead, and we often relate to them when speaking of the 90's emo. For that matters, beyond their talent and influence Cap'n'Jazz is also notable for the significant careers former members of the band have charted since the demise in 95: Make Believe, The Promise Ring, American Football, Owls, Ghosts and Vodka, Joan of Arc and Owen!!
Jade Tree decided in 1998 to pile up in a double cd release -an anthology- their recorded works from Shmap'n Shmazz, early singles, material from split releases, compilation tracks to unreleased demos...
Here it is.
