Choke up- s/t ep

Impassioned hardcore from Boston, very porwerful vocals, shout-at-your-face backed up by emotionnal melodic chords full of sneaky guitars intertwined with pounding ryhtms. Passages ala My heart to joy/Small Brown bike. A breath of fresh air. These 5 tracks have been looped for a while in my player...

Calculator- These roots grow deep

5-piece band out of California. Friends of Comadre or Dangers (share the same geographic area) they play this kind of passionate screamo-ish hardcore, full of melodies, beautiful hooks. Is this good? Damn sure.

The Reptilian- Boy's life

From Kalamazoo, Michigan. They are a post-hardcore band with hardcore values. They are a screamo band with math-rock tendencies. They are an indie band with too much yelling. They are probably all of the above. But really, they're just doing what they love to do. (from their blogspot- I know: i'm lame!don't blame!)
I really like this ep, its makes feel good. And you know that when songs makes you feel something you're alive. Long structured songs without losing its balance, incredibly melodic yet very intense. Intricate without being boring, passionate enough to feel the right amount of honesty in making music. Check it out!

Leatherface- Stormy Petrel

Among 10000 voices theres one you can't be wrong when guessing: Frankie Stubbs. Leatherface is back with a new lp, if you don't know these guys its quite a shame but no one is here to blame, right?
There are some really cathcy tunes, the last thing i heard from them was Last. I didn't like it.

Honest arrow- songs

Here are two songs from Gainesville's Honest arrow. No realeases that I know of to this day, just these two songs that can be found on their myspace page...I'm really looking forward to hear more, souvenirs of Fifth hour hero and hints of Hard girls. These things happen is a bomb track.

American Football- ep/lp

Kinsella's brother are kind if impressive: Cap n jazz, Joan of arc, American Football, Owen, Owls, Make believe. These chicagoans are like monuments in the history of the indie/emo scene.
American football is Mike Kinsella (Owen, CapnJazz, Joa) and Lamos (The geese, Dms) who started to play with the johnson's bros under the name of The One Up Downstairs. These dudes went on to form another act. There come Steve Holmes. The band, who never had a bass player, beacame more of a studio project, displaying an incredible and touching music. Damn those tunes (from their only 2 releases) are so beautiful.
Mike Kinsella explained the band's name as follows: My girlfriend had been in Dublin, Ireland visiting her family. One of the things she brought home for me was a flyer for a Chicago Bears exhibition game that said: "Come see American Football, featuring the most overpaid athletes in the world." Something about that statement made me think of rock bands, most of whom are the most overpaid musicians in the world. When I suggested it as a name, the other guys thought it was dumb. Still, for whatever reason, we kept it.
