Hanalei- One big night

Here is Brian Moss' 3rd full lenght due june 1st at Scary Big Monster. Brian Moss was part of The ghost a band from Berkeley which moved to Chicago and Olehole.
I was enough touched by this record to give to you the streaming version. So it's advanced version, a sort of ygii exclusive thing. (What did I tell about that on a previous post?!)
I had a major crush on the "the eigth nerve" song, heavily looped! Nice hooks, brilliant chorus with collegial singalong. Damn I like this song.
The rest of the album, it's like almost four minutes songs, indie folk pop, light with more upbeat hints. The song moth to the flame comes here like a k7 recording of vivida-vis!
You'll get it, I'm not good at reviewing, I should probably stick to my short stories.

Grown ups- More songs

After songs, there are more songs. One way not to bother on a complex title.
There are the songs on the first ep and there are new songs to make it tight! It seems that they are gaining weight on the us scene.
There will be playing to shows in France in june; marseille on th 10th and Rennes on the 13th.

Cheap girls- My roaring 20's

I saw a video of Ian Graham solo opening for american war. I thought it was a even better version of the song on the lp.(sleeping w.)
Cheap girls made me think of a band I listenned a lot when I was a teenage boy, Gin Blossoms. I like the sound of this voice. Good mood and melancholy, crooning with the four power pop chords that make out.
Bass/Drums: graham bros.

Nana grizol- love it love it

Sweet sweet.
Empowered by d.i.y venues and nurtured by 150 acres of open land this is Nana Grizol.
A horn section (as mellow as the horns in weakerthans) from Neutral Milk Hotel (2/6 of N.G) a harmond piano/xylophone/harmo, a rythm section and the voice and guitar of Theo Hilton, Defiance Ohio's alum. What you got? Just a perfect album. Defiance Ohio meets Bright Eyes meets Juno meets MJ touchdown pass!

Let me just talk here about the "150 acres of open land" -yeah you can browse google too-

Orange Twin Conservation Community (OTCC) is a limited liability company (LLC) formed to create a pedestrian-based eco-village and preserve open space on more than 150 acres (0.61 km2) of land located five miles (8 km) north of downtown Athens, Ga. The eco-village is still in the planning and development stage. OTCC was founded in the late 1990s by Laura Carter along with two friends, Laura Glenn and Barbara Denvir. Together they developed the initial concept of a village-style community in the Athens area. They also scouted and eventually found a large tract of undeveloped land with two perennial streams and much wooded acreage suitable for the community.

Sometimes Madeline Adams plays bass and sometimes it seems she doesn't. Yet she's beautiful. -She played an encore of what it seemed just for me as I asked dumpster dive mother in Dijon, France.
This being said I'm far from the subject so let's re-focus:

Perfect album of sunny days in wheat fields, of biking away from the city and living lightly. Going by the river and eating seitan by the shore, enjoying the reflection of the sun on the water and feeling free.

Sweet, sweet.

"Summer in my town is nice, my front porch is my paradise
and I can sit here every night, yes I can watch the world go by"

Sports

I don't know if some of you watch/follow/love/ basketball and ice hockey but I love those two sports very fucking much and what's happening in the nba and nhl playoffs is crazy!

I remember asking Adam Goren a.k.a Atom & his package in an interview if the Flyers will make the playoffs: it was some years ago and the flyers fans must be astonished this year. Down 0-3 Philly makes it up the the 7th game (whichis already a miracle) but after losing 0-3 after a period AT Boston in this oh so important last game, theyscores 4 in a row to close the series! Even more miraculous. (The Islanders did it twice in a row in '75)
The Canadiens are seed eight. One week before the end of the regular season they didn't know if they were gonna make it. And in 7, they beat the Capitals and the Penguins (last year SC's winner) and reach the Eastern conference finals where they meet...the Flyers. And guess the seed? 7!
So in the east we've got #7 vs #8! (In the West it's #1 vs #2...)
Go East.

I've been playing basket ball a lot, since I was 9. 1993. Just after the Dream Team (yeah, capital letters) blew everything away in the '92 summer olympics in Barcelona.
I grew up with Bird, Johnson and then just M.J.
So I'm always pleased when the Bulls make the playoffs. (None in the early 00's, but brilliant like against the Celtics in a 7 game 7 Ot last year!)
To make it short, because I just wanted to write these things because these sports bring me joy: and because Boston ejected the Cavs):
-The C's rules.
-Orlando is very strong.
And the suns have to kick the goddamn lakers asses!!
Boston-Phoenix. Great finals.
Because I've grown with Jordan I can't stand K.Bryant and to some extent, L. James.

Jawbreaker- live NY 1993

I'll try to put more records like this: bsides/rarities/bootleg, non commercials records.
There are lot of blogs where you can get the latest releases, and as I don't run for exclusivity I don't see why I'll continue on posting brand new records, especially for very well-known bands...
This being said:

Here's Jawbreaker in 1993 playing CBGB, with soon to become anthemic songs. (24 hour revenge therapy was released in 1994.)

2- Donatello
3- Boxcar
4- Chesterfield King
5- The boat dreams from the hill
6- West Bay invitational
7- Want
8- Outpatient
