I was so enthuastic when I heard the first record of New Jersey's Gaslight Anthem. The kind of record a young band would dream to start their discography with. Solid! A record full of melodies, hooks and great song arrangements. So now take a mixer and put: Against me!, Bruce Springsteen, Lucero and add Brian Falon's smokey voice, some mid tempo smoothy drumming and a great songwriting.
So we heard about The gaslight anthem a lot, it was like the greatest excitement given to a punk rock band in the past years. I was one of those dudes. Then they released an ep-the senor and the queen- 4 tracks to wait for their last Lp -the 59's sound- which combines old and new, punk and soul, while Fallon’s lyrics and Alex Rosamilia’s lead guitar take the listener on a cinematic journey through melancholy and elation, remorse and optimism. An outstanding second album from a band who are still growing, improving, and taking control of the direction they take their music, and based on the quality of this album, they will have no shortage of followers!
