Microfilm- A journey to the 75th

Never heard of this band? I can talk to you about this...
From the great city of Poitiers, France, Microfilm plays an incredible post rock sound, with sample movies. Old b movies, creating a very peculiar universe that you rapidly drift into.
With members of Myra lee (drummer) or seven hate (Greg, bass), this is their following-demo-recording. Dont' miss that, c'est cerise sur gâteau.

Youth pictures of Florence Henderson- Unnoticeable in a tiny town, invisible in the city

Youth pictures of Florence Henderson is a post rock outfit from Oslo, Norway. Formed by journalist students mates in 2004, they were quite evasive at the start but rely on post rock and put out on their own structure this 6 tracks very well acclaimed by reviews. Mixing elements of pop rock (which i dislike the most, some moaning elements..) especially with some vocals involved, they deliver some best class post rock ala explosions in the sky, very soothing parts and include some electronic stuff, samples to weird sound.
Put your headphones on and press play.

Jawbreaker- Dear you

I'm not up to the complete discography right now, maybe later...I picked up one alb of Berkeley's best because I've been listenning a lot to it, jetblack is indeed my favorite jawbreaker song. So much depth, it still thrills me.
This is the last Lp they released. After the impact of Green Day or Offspring (California shines) Geffen (Sony division, major label) decided to released it. They made a lot on marketing ,yet the sales did not take off even if Rob Cavallo (who worked on Dookie, breaktrough album) was in charge ofthe production and gave to the record a more "radio sound."24 hour revenge therapy, their previous effort was a huge success but put the band on the verge of breaking up. Eventually they did break up (1996), one year after the release of Dear you (sept 95), which included a tour opening for Foo Fighters.and who is wearing that shirt!

Paul Baribeau - demo tape (09)

Haha, what the hell is that design. I think he printed shirts with that.

Here are 6 songs, a little something to wait for the soon-to-come new record by Paul Baribeau.(Harvest of hope? No idea? Plan it x?)
Grand ledge, his last effort, is highly responsible for my needle record going thin. Once again, everything just good, I can't explain but when I'm listenning to P. Baribeau it's relaxing me in the way i feel safe and that I'll always be able to remember, friends, comrades, happiness, life... Yeah, posi but I think thats the beauty of it, right?

Pirouette- thinking in subtitles

Last chapter in this trilogy.
1. Everyone everywhere
2. Hightide hotel
3. Pirouette

This solid ep dates back 2007. A breath of fresh air, each of these 8 tracks stand alone very well. Influenced by cap n jazz, yeah sure. Being Pirouette without trying to compare: i think they succeed.

Hightide hotel- porch luck

See, I told you about Philly. Oh i never been there, maybe some day, when I'll have a fuckload of money to travel a little more. (Maybe one of you live there and has a flat to share!)
Ok, I'm getting away from my subject...Hightide hotel come from the city of independance; i'm right, right? Yeah, like Algernon Cadwallader or Snowing... jeez!!
Catchy tunes. just listen to the tender an the terrible!

Everyone everywhere- a lot of good people standing around

Philadelphia share a lot of good names, from Pirouette to the almigthy Adam Goren, to the Flyers and to everyone everywhere. Between grown ups, the progress, promise ring and that sorta things. and i feel in some jams a little of slingshot dakota...
You can already preorder their next Lp and there are two new songs on their myspace page.

Cool pool keg toss Pete, nice spring song uh!

Monument- 7" (aka the 100th post!)

Damn this is good. This 3 songs 7 inches is very likely to catch you. You take Braid, Cap n jazz, American Football giving this touch of 90's emo (its not an ugly word when relating to these bands uh!) and feeling an Algernon Cadwallader thing (an upcoming split will come between these two acts) in this surge of posthardcore/indie/emo stuff i'm often posting on this site. Dual guitars harmonies, screeching singalongs the recording gives a rawness that i appreciate alot! Get rad!
